PFAS are chemicals that contain bonds between carbon and multiple fluorine atoms. These strong carbon-fluorine bonds give PFAS useful chemical properties for making products oil, stain, and water-repellent, or non-stick.
Read moreDue to a significant number of locations contaminated with PFAS in Europe (the total number of sites potentially emitting PFAS is estimated to be in the order of 100 000), there is a great need to significantly strengthen field of analytics and active research of these compounds in Serbia as a representative of western Balkan countries by forming a connection with internationally leading institutions from EU Member States. Therefore, there is a significant interest for linking University of Belgrade Faculty of Chemistry (UBFC) as a coordinating institution with prominent leading research institutions from Spain (Institute of Organic Chemistry, IQOG, a department at the Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas, CSIC) and France (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières, BRGM).
