Dr. Juan Muñoz-Arnanz is an analytical chemist specialized in the field of environmental chemistry developing his work as scientific researcher at IQOG-CSIC. Under the umbrella of the one-health concept (environmental and human health intertwined) and with the ultimate goal of being useful to society, his research activity is mostly aimed at 1) improving our knowledge about occurrence, characterization, dynamics and effects of POPs and other persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) substances other contaminants in the environment, 2) developing stable and useful monitoring programs and 3) providing new bases for wildlife management and conservation pertaining legacy and emerging organic pollutants.
Responsible for the development and optimization of GC/LC-MS methods encompassing the following techniques: GC (monodimensional, heart-cutting); HPLC; UPLC; Mass Spectrometry (MS) with different mass analyzers (q, QqQ, TOF, magnetic sector). Accustomed to extensive statistical data treatment and analysis, he is also involved with the organization and participation in activities devoted to spread scientific knowledge.
